This is actually really cool because technically “fuck” can’t even be an infix, as it’s a meaningful free morpheme and those can’t be used as grammatical morphemes (also in English infixes only exist in fossilized form) but the use of “fuck” for inflectional word formation is actually fascinating
As I see it, the more and more frequent use of a word as a suffix implies that it’s undergoing semantic bleaching
Soon, possibly not during our generation’s or our children’s or grandchildren’s lifespan, the word “fuck” may eventually lose its meaning and become a grammatical intensifying suffix or possibly the only actual inflix in the English language
and if you don’t think that’s at least kinda cool then I feel sorry for you son because linguistics is an amazing field of study and gdi I love the English language

The tuatara is genus of reptiles found only in New Zealand. The genus contains only two living species - the Brothers Island tuatara (Sphenodon guntheri) and the Northern tuatara (Sphenodon punctatus). When the tuatara was first scientifically classified in 1831 they were assumed to be lizards. In 1867 the order Rhynchocephalia (meaning “beak head”, in reference to the distinctive skull structure) was created by Albert Günther of the British Museum, for the tuatara and its fossil relatives.

The tuatara is often referred to as a living fossil due to several primitive features that they still have, though they have changed significantly since the  Mesozoic era.

The brain structure and manner in which tuatara move is more similar of amphibians than reptiles, whilst their heart has the most primitive structure of any reptile and their lungs have only a single chamber and lack bronchi.

The skulls of tuataras also shows their age - it is simple in build with two openings (temporal fenestra) on each side of the skull, with complete arches, and the upper jaw is firmly attached to the skull. This makes for a very rigid, inflexible construction.

The tip of the upper jaw is beak-like and separated from the remainder of the jaw by a notch. There is a single row of teeth in the lower jaw and a double row in the upper, with the bottom row fitting perfectly between the two upper rows when the mouth is closed. This specific tooth arrangement is not seen in any other reptile. The jaws chew with backwards and forwards movements combined with a shearing up and down action. As their teeth wear down, older tuatara have to switch to softer prey such as earthworms, larvae, and slugs, and eventually have to chew their food between smooth jaw bones.

Mind-blowing oil paintings by Austrian/Jewish painter, LUDWIG DEUTSCH, LEON GEROME & RUDOLF ERNST in the late 1800s:
 The subject, “The Palace Guard” were depictions of North African medieval Muslims, THE MOORS, who settled in & ruled Northern Africa and invaded and conquered many parts of what we would now consider “Southern Europe (Spain, Portugal, France & Southern Italy-ala Sicily)” for nearly 800 years, from as early as the 7th to the 15th century. Their profound, cultural legacy, influence & what they left behind( Such as the great monuments, the Alhambra and the Mezquita) is evident on modern day spanish architecture, art, music and traditions. All but ignored now largely by both Arab and European world history, The Moors played a significant role during the shaping of prehistory in their early settlement.

As the daughter of the sun-god Re, Sakhmet waged war against both the enemies of the sun-god and the enemies of the king, who was the “physical son of Re.” This head of Sakhmet shows the goddess wearing both the solar disk and the uraeus, the fire-spitting cobra that symbolized kingship (the head of the uraeus is broken off).

People need to know about Cayden. Really proud of these kids that do very grown up things. The level of humanity he displays at the age of 8 should be commended. 
8-Year-Old Raises Thousands of Dollars to Pay Off Past Due Lunch Accounts of Classmates
Let it never be said that even young children can’t see injustice in the world, nor are they powerless to do anything about it.
When 8-year-old Cayden Taipalus saw that some of this fellow classmates at school were forced to forgo hot meals because their lunch account balances had dipped into the negative, he came home upset. His school’s policy was to allow students to go $5 into the negative before replacing their regular hot meals with cheese sandwiches and milk, according to Tom Gould, director of public relations for the Howell Public School District where Cayden attends.

“Like a lot of districts, we use accounts where parents add money to their students’ accounts,” Gould said, explaining that parents are notified when their child has a negative balance. [source]

But it’s a problem that faces many students, with some children’s parents unable to afford to ever get them out of the negative. When he got home from school that day, he told his mother that he felt like it was unfair that some kids weren’t being served hot meals and instead had to eat cheese sandwiches because their lunch accounts had no money in them.

“I just want to make kids have a better lunch,” he told TODAY.com.

So he decided to do something about it. First, he and his mom began to collect empty bottles and cans and exchanging them as part of a recycling program. That got him about $64, and bought about 150 lunches. Pretty impressive for an 8-year-old, but Cayden was just warming up.
After he got a little local press for his act of kindness, people began contacting his family asking what they could do to help. Seeing an opportunity to make a bid difference, he started a campaign on an online fundraising site that got money to put towards his schools lunch program. The dollars began pouring in.
Hundreds of people from across the United States and abroad have donated, pitching in a staggering $10,800 to the cause so far. That’s enough money to pay for well over 4,000 school lunches. Cheese sandwiches will be a distant memory. Cayden probably just got a lot more friends around the school yard.
Clearly the project has outgrown it’s original purpose, so instead of calling it a day, Cayden and his mother have begun going to other schools to pay off their account balances too. Cayden says his goal is to raise enough money to help all students in his county.

Mother and son returned to two other schools last week to pay off lunch accounts, and will visit three more this week to spend the funds they’ve collected so far onFundRazr. They plan on adding extra funds to each overdue account, ensuring those students can get hot lunches for days to come. [source]

Cayden may be the youngest, but he makes up a growing trend of people who have tackled the problem of unpaid lunch accounts. After several stories recently revealed schools withholding food from kids who could not afford lunch and in one case even throwing out the food the children had already been served hundreds of individuals across the country have made contributions to their school districts in order to never allow a child to go hungry or be shamed because his or her parents didn’t pay their lunch bill.

Solar Slinky

A major solar flare produced an arcade resembling a slinky. That flare has been featured here before, but this time we are showing a set of composite images that shows the thermal evolution of the material. The X5.7 flare occurred at 10:03UT on 14 July 2000, in Active Region 9077, and was observed by TRACE in three colors: the red image shows the ultraviolet continuum, generally characteristic of cool, dense gas; the blue image shows the 171Å pass band, characteristic of material around 1 million degrees; the green channel shows material hotter than about 1.5 million degrees up to approximately 10 million degrees.

The top image is a collage of six images. Frame 1, right after the onset of the flare, shows very bright, rapidly evolving flare kernels and the beginning formation of ridges, or ribbons, that give this “two-ribbon flare” its name. Frame 2 shows an image around 10:25UT, 22 minutes later, when the ribbons have developed along much of their length, and loops connecting them are showing up on the right-hand side of the arcade. Frame 3 shows a bright ridge between the ribbons; this is presumably very hot material, but it remains unclear whether that lies below or above the now cooling loops connecting the ribbons. Frame 4 shows green loops forming on the left-hand side, that cool to blue in frame 5. In Frame 6 most of the arcade loops have cooled to around 1 million degrees.

Because TRACE observes gas of very different pass bands, it allows us in principle to perform a very detailed study of the thermal evolution of this flare, which was very large, and caused the largest particle storm of the cycle thus far.

  3. Growth factors (the blue and purple spheres) bind to certain receiving proteins, called receptors, which relay the growth factor signals into the cell. These signals are further relayed through a large network of proteins by kinases, which eventually change the activity of genes within the nucleus.
  4. Cell signaling is the process used by cells to communicate with other cells. Signals (hormones, growth factors, calcium, nitric oxide, etc.) originate in a cell, leave, and then enter and are interpreted by another cell.
